Your story about the series of Albany Symphony Orchestra performances planned to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the building of the Erie Canal led me to attend the performance at the Mabee Farm in Rotterdam Junction on July 3.
I was disappointed, however, in the lack of coverage of the concert itself. At least 4,000 people gathered at the farm to enjoy a lovely summer evening and a wonderful concert. The program included the debut of a musical piece that featured spoken pieces by actors from Albany Rep.
All we saw in The Gazette was a small picture of the performance in Amsterdam on July 4. Despite limited resources,
I encourage The Gazette to consider more coverage of the many cultural events available in our area, especially those offered by the Schenectady County Historical Society and its property, the Mabee Farm. They have a lot to offer and don’t receive the recognition they deserve.
