BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. >> Michelle Larkin celebrated more than just her birthday Thursday.
As executive director of Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, Larkin opened the doors to the non-profit organization’s new store at 132 Milton Ave.
Representatives from the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, community members and volunteers joined Larkin on her birthday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and all day open-house event.
“I’m so lucky that I have so many people who are interested in this whole organization, who are dedicated to their community, who work with me to make this happen; so it’s not me,” said Larkin. “It’s all of these friends and community members, who I’m blessed to be a part of this with.”
Rebuilding Together Saratoga County — which helps low-income homeowners make needed repairs — had considered opening a store to sell gently used furniture, household goods and building materials. About two years, the organization decided to make it happen.
The Store at Rebuilding Together Saratoga County is located at the organization’s headquarters.
“This is an incredible opportunity to find new homes for donated building materials and household goods, while raising additional funding that will help our neighbors have safer and healthier homes,” said Larkin in a statement. “It’s really a win-win for the community.”
Larkin said the store is another way for the non-profit organization to raise funds and cover its costs.
