Re July 15 article, “Ellis Medicine stays solo despite partnerships all around”: I have some suggestions for Ellis Hospital. Look to the north and west. Consider merging or affiliating with Bassett Healthcare Network.
Bassett is an integrated health care system that provides care and services to people living in an eight-county region covering 5,600 square miles in upstate New York. Then also consider merging or affiliating with Glens Falls Hospital.
Another alternative would be to build and staff more facilities like the one Ellis has at 103 Sitterly Road in Clifton Park. Build one on Troy-Schenectady Road in Colonie and another on Route 50 close to the intersection of Route 67. A third could go west of the intersection of routes 7 and 20 in Duanesburg.
The competition is coming into Schenectady County. It’s time to take Ellis into their counties.
