Amy Fiebke is keeping herself pretty busy these days, working as a nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany while at the same time pursuing another college degree.
But she wasn’t about to say no to playing Mother Superior in Dan Goggin’s award-winning 1985 musical, “Nunsense,” being produced by The Theater Barn in New Lebanon for two weeks beginning tonight and running through Aug. 6.
“The show itself is just so funny, and it’s a lot of fun to do,” said Fiebke, an Arizona native and Chatham High School graduate who moved to the Hudson Valley as a young girl. “I’ve done the show before, so I knew I was going to love it, but this particular production is wonderful. Everyone is so talented.”
Fiebke is joined on stage by Joan Faxon of East Greenbush as Sister Mary Hubert, while the other three main characters, all based in New York City and Theater Barn newcomers, are Courtney Silber as Sister Robert Anne, Katie Luke as Sister Mary Leo and Liane Zielinski as Sister Mary Amnesia. Directing the show is Schenectady’s Marc de la Concha.
This production marks the third time Joan Phelps has decided to stage “Nunsense” in the 34 years she and her husband Abe have been running The Theater Barn.
“It’s our third time doing this show but we haven’t done it for quite a while now,” said Phelps. “It’s always an audience favorite and the reason is it’s so much fun. I like my audience to come out of the theater smiling, and this show does that.”
For Fiebke, it’s the fourth time she’s been in a production of “Nunsense,” having also played Sister Mary Amnesia and Sister Mary Hubert, the most recent performance coming at Albany…
