Stop interrupting TV programs for news – New York News

Why are TV networks so quick to interrupt scheduled programming for news that most people don’t want to hear at that moment?

Cases in point, Yasser Arafat’s death, 10 minutes before the nightly news. Saying that Trump might pick Pence as his vice president, 10 days before it became official. Trump in Paris, or now, O.J. Simpson’s parole hearing. Then they wonder why the viewers are angry.

CBS has a second channel, WLNY. They could show the hearing on that channel, with a caption at the bottom of the screen indicating a showing on that channel. That way they can have viewers decide which they wish to see. Networks, “think before you act.”
