Police: Woman hit by taxi in Schenectady – New York News

SCHENECTADY — City police are on the scene of a late-morning car-pedestrian crash on State Street.

A taxi struck the pedestrian at about 11:30 a.m. between Brandywine Avenue and Waldorf Place, according to police and witnesses.

The condition of the woman struck wasn’t immediately clear, but a witness to the aftermath said she appeared breathing but unconscious as paramedics worked on her. She was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. The witness described the woman as in her 30s.

The vehicle that struck her is a taxi van with the name Andy’s Taxi on the side. The van’s hood has a large dent in the middle and the windshield is smashed at the bottom.

State Street westbound between Brandywine and Waldorf remained closed at 1 p.m. as police worked.

There are street surveillance cameras at State and Brandywine. It was unclear if they captured the crash or the lead up to it.
