MOREAU, N.Y. >> The following events are planned at Moreau Lake State Park in August.
Aug. 3 — Kayak Trip (9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) A park naturalist will lead this beginner’s paddle around the lake pointing out signs of summer.
Aug. 3 — Kneehigh Naturalist (10 a.m.) This class is intended for children ages 1-6 and their parents/guardians along with any siblings. There will be a short story or two based on the outdoors followed by a short hike.
Aug. 4 — Fishing Trip (8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) Two seats are available in boat. Call to reserve one.
Aug. 5 — Let’s Talk Turtles! (10 a.m.-11 a.m. Learn about their habits, habitat and diet.
Aug. 7 — Full Moon Hike (8-9:30 p.m.) A park educator will lead this Full Moon Hike. While walking around the lake she will point out flora and fauna as the sun is setting and the moon is rising. Full moon hikes are $3 per person.
Aug. 8 — Moreau Lake Kayak (10 a.m.-12 p.m.) A park naturalist will lead this beginner’s paddle around the lake pointing out signs of summer.
Aug. 9 — Lake Bonita Hike (9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) A park educator will lead this hike along the new property that just opened to the public.
Aug. 10 — Fly Fishing Demo (5:30 p.m.) Learn how to fly fish from an expert. He will show people how to cast and answer questions.
Aug. 13 — Fun with Frogs (10-11 a.m.) Learn about the life cycle of frogs. Go for a short walk along the beach looking for tadpoles and frogs.
Aug. 15 — Lake Loop Hike (9 a.m.-2 p.m.) 5-plus miles round trip from the spring overlook parking lot across the new waterfall…
