Stolen car involved in Clifton Park crash: deputies – New York News

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. >> A stolen car collided with another vehicle this morning on Route 9, Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies said.

The driver of the stolen car — Zachary L. Barrantes, 23, of Delmar — was cited Saturday for: speed not reasonable and prudent; passing a red light; overtaking on the right; reckless driving; and disobeying a traffic control device.

Deputies said the car, a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, was reported stolen earlier Saturday; deputies said they are still investigating that matter and charges are pending.

Deputies said they responded to a call of motor vehicle collision in town — on Route 9 at Kinns Road — at 11:27 a.m. Saturday.

An investigation revealed Barrantes was driving the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu south on Route 9. The car overtook several vehicles on the right shoulder, passed a red light, and collided with a 2002 Ford Focus — driven by Robert F. Wicks, 67, of Mechanicville — which had been lawfully crossing Route 9, from Farm-To-Market Road to Kinns Road, deputies said.

Both Barrantes and Wicks were transported by Clifton Park EMS to Albany Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.
