Woman hit by taxi on State Street – New York News

A woman crossing State Street between intersections was struck and injured by a passing taxi late Friday morning, police said.

The woman, 29, was taken to Albany Medical Center after the 11:30 a.m. crash and listed in stable condition Friday afternoon, police said.

The incident happened between Brandywine Avenue and Waldorf Place near 1044 State St. The vehicle that struck her is a taxi van from Andy’s Taxi. The van’s hood had a large dent in the middle and the windshield was smashed at the bottom.

The city police traffic division continued investigating Friday afternoon, but police said it appeared  the woman crossed State Street northbound outside of a pedestrian crosswalk when the taxi, traveling westbound, struck her.

State Street westbound between Brandywine and Waldorf remained closed into the afternoon as police worked.

There are street surveillance cameras at State and Brandywine. It was unclear Friday if they captured the crash or the lead up to it.
