Assault, mushroom possession charged after stop – New York News

A city man injured a state trooper while being arrested on a hallucinogenic mushroom charge Wednesday, authorities said.

Jesse T. Malaney, 29, faces one count of second-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Malaney is accused of possessing more than 600 milligrams of the mushrooms during an evening traffic stop on Guilderland Avenue, according to court filings.

During the stop, Malaney allegedly assaulted the trooper, causing cuts to the trooper’s face, arms and legs, as well as a leg injury, police say.
