The Schoharie County Sunshine Fair lived up to its name during its opening weekend, with good weather attracting thousands of people to the fairgrounds in Cobleskill.
Visitors can pay a flat rate of $15 to cover parking, admission and all attractions — a policy implemented last year. The Sunshine Fair boasts food, rides and entertainment, and is in its 141st year. The fair opened Saturday and runs through Aug. 5.
Favorable weather brought in healthy crowds for the fair’s opening day and again on Sunday, fair president Doug Cater said. It was a welcome contrast to last year, he said.
“Last year, we basically had a complete washout,” Cater said. “A lot of our shows and everything, we didn’t even open.”
