Former “Growing Pains” star Kirk Cameron has been criticized for a Facebook video in which he appears insensitive to roughly 100 people killed and the billions of dollars of destruction caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
“How should we look at two giant hurricanes coming back-to-back like this?” Cameron, 46, asks in the more than four-minute video shot at the Orlando, Florida, airport on Thursday as he prepared to leave on a flight. “Do we write them off as coincidence? . . . This is a spectacular display of God’s immense power. And when he puts his power on display, it’s never without reason. . . . And we may not always understand what that purpose is, but we know it’s not random and we know that weather is sent to cause us to respond to God in humility, awe and repentance . . . so that you and I would reach out to him.”
“Amazing. He actually thinks a god murders people with weather events, in order to teach them humility.
