HS roundup: Shen field hockey downs Burnt Hills – New York News

Shenendehowa used a pair of first-half goals to beat Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 2-0 Monday in a Suburban Council field hockey game matching defending Section II champions.

Julia Chang and Maddy Dunne knocked in Shenendehowa’s goals, and Hannah Crounse and Kelli Russo 

collected assists.

The two-time defending Section II Class A champion and 2016 state titlist Plainsmen got two saves from Sheridan Messier and four stops from Abby Danson. Shenendehowa (4-0) extended its win streak to 25 games.

Rachel Kamppila made 10 saves for Burnt Hills (4-1), which has won five straight Section II Class B crowns.

In another game, Eliza Whitman scored a goal and set up Madelyn Kasulinous for goal, and Hoosick Falls went to 4-0 with a 3-0 Wasaren-Adirondack League win over Greenwich.

Mackenzie Sprague had the other Hoosick Falls goal.


Jaylin Sykes scored in each half, and Greg Monroe made 10 stops, as Shenendehowa beat Niskayuna 3-1 in a Suburban Council game.

Noah Faro had the other Shenendehowa goal. Alex Koudal scored for Niskayuna after Shenendehowa built a 3-0 lead.

Evan Wieczenski scored two goals, his second coming in overtime off a Brett Kneeskem assist, to lift Fonda-Fultonville past Schoharie 2-1 in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Matthew Loubier gave Schoharie the lead in the second half before Wieczenski answered with his first goal.

Galway beat Northville 2-0 on an own goal and another by Jake Restivo, assisted by Charlie Clarke.

Northville keeper Andrew Klingbeil piled up 23 saves.
