HALFMOON — The Aldi grocery store on Route 9 will reopen next week after being closed for remodeling earlier this summer.
Aldi will hold a public ribbon-cutting Sept. 21 to celebrate the unveiling of the remodeled store, at 1681 Route 9.
The remodeling was part of Aldi’s $1.6 billion effort to upgrade more than 1,300 stores nationwide by 2020. The scope of the renovations were unclear, as representatives from Aldi did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
However, in a prepared statement, company officials said the new store will feature more room for products and a modern design, including open ceilings, natural light and environmentally friendly building materials.
Aldi took input from local customers into consideration when designing the new store, the company said in its statement. The remodeled Halfmoon location will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Aldi is known for its exclusive products and low prices.
Aldi is based in Germany and has more than 1,600 stores in 35 states nationwide.
