Skidmore AD to be honored as lacrosse legend – New York News

PENNINGTON, N.J.— Skidmore College athletics director Gail Cummings-Danson will be one of 80 women’s lacrosse players and coaches celebrated Sept. 30 at the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League Legends’ Celebration and Legends’ Game at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.

A standout player at Temple University, her career total of 289 goals is the Division I record. She scored 94 goals in 17 games during Temple’s undefeated 1988 national championship season.  The 19-0 Owls knocked off defending national champion Penn State 15-7 in the championship. Cummings-Danson scored a tournament-high eight goals in the tournament.

Her playing resume also includes membership in both the Canadian and United States Lacrosse Halls of Fame. She is a member of the Temple University Hall of Fame as an individual and as a player on the 1988 team.
