Seniors Hanna Hudson and Nick Alois didn’t let one defeat spoil their appreciation for homecoming fun.
That attitude served them well, as they were crowned Centereach High School homecoming king and queen Friday during a pep rally at the school.
The spirited students, both 17, took home the crown and tiara after being nominated for homecoming prince and princess as juniors.
Alois was all smiles after receiving his royal blue crown.
“We were on the ballot last year and things didn’t go our way,” said Alois, who has been dating Hudson for 19 months. “Things changed this year, and it’s very exciting. It’s a great feeling.”
Alois has been playing football since ninth grade, and Hudson is the senior class president.
“It’s a lot of work, but it’s exciting,” Hudson said of her role as president. “I love high school, so I wanted to make it a good year to end it all.”
As for football season, Alois is hoping for big wins but feeling sentimental.
